My mission: Create an optimized workplace
My targets: Improve the efficiency and reduce the impact on the environment:
> Better throughput and better flow
> Less inventory and less space
> Gather people, a team is always stronger.
> Small steps, going fast is always dangerous.
> Never stops, stopping is always falling.
> Common sense, theory is never reality.
You need help to improve your production efficiency, ask an expert to help you.
I am 57 years old and I spent most of the 33 past years in shopfloors in around 20 different countries.
I worked with people having different languages, different habits, different culture, different religions and at the end of the day, the question is not “what to do” but “how to do it” to make sure it will be sustainable in a specific location.
My belief is that we can always improve. Not only the production lines, not only the process flows, not only the procedures, but as well people mindset just being open, including ourselves.
Applying tools is something, applying tools with a good team keeping the common sense as the base of thinking, is something else.
I strongly beleive that training happens doing things on the floor, not having meeting in a room.
Optimize what you have, improve what you will have:
I can provide support and training and I can as well implement myself what is needed on the production floor.
Based on my experience, I am very flexible about the product types, the process types and the location of the activity.
4 types of services:
Manufacturing Engineering:
1) Process needs evaluation/calculation, process concept, layout, design (Engineering activity).
2) Process build, validation and implementation until production start (Manufacturing activity).
Lean Manufacturing:
3) Assessment of the current situation, plan definition to achieve targets (Engineering activity).
Target can be an output improvement (ramp-up) or an optimization (ramp-down).
4) Support, training and/or implementation on the floor (Manufacturing activity).
I can help you wherever and whatever you are doing.
The first question will be “what is your target?”
Any product and any production level. Some concrete examples about what I have implemented:
Manufacturing Engineering:
- Launch (from concept to production) of 15-20 Assembly and/or Test production lines (several Meur each) in the past 20 years in half-dozen of countries.
- All of them respecting or exceeding the output target.
Lean Manufacturing:
- VSM use to re-balance the time on manual production stations in Morocco (electrical switches for appliances) and india (engine parts for automotive) > 20% output increase.
- Kanban/5S implementation of an entire shopfloor in Hungary (transmission parts for automotive) > 30% WIP decrease, 20% space saving.
- PFMEA+ optimization of several automatic production lines in Ireland (mirrors for automotive) > 80% customer PPM reduction.
- SMED implementation of an entire shopfloor in Poland (friction plates for clutches for automotive) > 60% reducction of change/over.
- Visual Management implementation to standardise the image, the way to calculate and report data (e.g. OEE%) between 3 existing plants, 1 new and 1 acquisition in Europe (automotive industry).
- Dozen of workshops done, the examples above give ideas of the scope.
Others:
- Relocation (technical portion) of 3 plants (Europe and China).
- Plant layout, including clean room specifications, and build follow-up of 5 new plants (Europe and China).
Lean, standard and modern manufacturing concepts can be applied on very manual production lines or highly automated ones. The concept is the same, its implementation has to be adapted.
Worldwide experience:
> 34 years in automotive Manufacturing Engineering and Lean Manufacturing worldwide.
> 24 years located in different regions of France and going WW where my added value was necessary.
> 10 years located in different regions of China to start plants and production.
Manufacturing Engineering:
- Scope: industrialization of tailor made production lines for any types of products (and budget).
- Activities: customer needs calculation, process concept, process supplier assessment, process design with supplier(s), process built tracking, process validation and installation, production start.
- Suppliers and production plants locations have been in France, Germany, Italy, USA, China, Hungary, …
Lean Manufacturing:
- Scope: improvement and optimization of any existing process for any types of products.
- Activities: current situation assessment, plan definition to improve the efficiency based on the needs. (improve the output/OEE/Quality rate/real time tracking, decrease the costs/inventory/space needed), train the people, implementation on the floor using the Lean tools (VSM, CFM, 5S-8S, SMED(T), Kanban, Visual Mgt., …).
- I did successful missions in France, Monaco, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, Poland, Scotland, Sueden, Tunisia, …
